Periodontal Care

Periodontal Therapy

Evaluation and treatment planning for gum health, periodontal disease, and ongoing maintenance needs.

Evaluating gum health

Periodontal care begins with an assessment of the gums, supporting bone, plaque and tartar deposits, bleeding, recession, tooth mobility, and other relevant findings. Diagnostic imaging may be recommended when appropriate.

Nonsurgical periodontal care

When indicated, treatment may include scaling and root planing to remove deposits below the gumline. The exact approach depends on the location and extent of disease, comfort considerations, and the treatment plan.

Soft-tissue laser technology may be discussed in the context of an individual periodontal plan. It is not presented as a guaranteed or standalone solution.

Maintenance and monitoring

Periodontal disease requires ongoing monitoring. Home care, tobacco use, health conditions, medications, and the response to treatment can affect maintenance recommendations. Referral or additional treatment may be appropriate in some situations.

Is periodontal therapy the same as a routine cleaning?
